Shimmer Paths
After more than half a year's work (which seems quick compared to Fox Flight Market Night!) the latest Beastly Worlds comic, Shimmer Paths, is ready!
Kibbeling is a small black cat who finds himself more lost than he could have ever imagined. Luckily, he meets Kroket, who leads him on a journey navigating the shimmer paths past creatures of all kinds (tasty, annoying, terrifying) and through a whirl of different worlds he never knew existed.
The comic is 48 pages, and the same as I did for my previous comic - Fox Flight Market Night - I have hand inked every page and then painted them in watercolour.
Shimmer Paths was part of the LDC Online Comics Fair 2025. (I had planned to make something else for the online fair, but Kibbeling leaped onto the page and I had to follow along drawing his adventure.)

The story is about companionship, dealing with new places and change, not rushing to judgements, plus a little about life and death.
The cats do get a little existential, but I hope in a gentle way that is ultimately hopeful and comforting..!

A huge thank you to Taylor Brothers in Bristol for arranging for me to go on press for the production of Shimmer Paths. It was amazing to see the total sorcery of lithography printing. We added an extra special fifth ink for the cover, a shiny shimmery silver (alongside the usual cyan, magenta, yellow and black) to reflect the story theme. It was absolutely mesmerising to see it coating the rollers and hear more about the inner workings of their huge printing press.
